Inkscape users,
I'm currently trying to find the best Linux/Open Source application for the task of "digital inking". For those not familiar with the term, digital inking is simply tracing over scanned images of pencil art to create a clean image for printing, and possibly colouring.
The make or break issue seems to be one of line smoothing. At first I thought that drawing smooth freehand lines was an issue with the Wacom tablet drivers (Linuxwacom), but it seems after some reading it is an application issue.
GIMP does not support line smoothing (so far as I can tell).
On the LinuxWacom mailing list, someone suggested that Inkscape might have some line smoothing functions. I've actually been using Inkscape for a while now on other tasks, so I'm not unfamiliar with the interface.
However, I can't find any line smoothing options. Do they exist? If so, where?
Using a vector graphic program for this task, in place of a raster graphics program like GIMP, would not be my first choice, but if I could draw smooth lines in Inkscape, I would happily go with it.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
