The mockup seems an excellent GUI feature perfectly adapted to what I also believe to be a problem of usability in Inkscape... wow I wish I could code I would start this moment. It is the first idea in a long time where so many people on the list are clearly on the same wavelength, and the implementation suggestion is simple and clever... hey! just like Inkscape itself!
