ScislaC, what do you think of this? Would this fit in with the DeviantArt community too?
Also, does anyone have ideas on how this could be organized?

I'm pretty sure that the dA inkscapers community would love to have regular monthly contests for logos, icons, etc for various projects. So far they loved the couple contests for Inkscape related stuff, so that's why I think it would go over well (that and a decent proportion of the 'inkscapers' members are using other FOSS as well and they like to contribute, but can't in the traditional development sense).
Organization-wise I think we'd have to go from the top down and throw it out there in the OSS world first and see how much of a desire there is to have this "service" available. There's a bazillion OSS projects at completely different stages of development so I'd personally assume that there is a pretty strong need. The real question is how to tap that side to see how large of a need there truly is. Anyone have any ideas on that?
Well, like I mentioned earlier, I probably get 2-3 logo creation requests from OSS folks every month. Plus, I've seen more than a few pleas from various OSS projects posted on websites, etc. out there. I think there is an extremely strong desire for this sort of service.
As well, I think a lot of software developers settle with lower quality logos than they'd like, due to lack of an easy way to attract help from a skilled artist. With better art for OSS projects, this would greatly improve the visual appeal of OSS project as a whole.
ScislaC, would you be willing to organize a logo contest for the month of September? For the first logo, how about creating one for the "Inkscape User Logo Project"?
