Thanks a lot for the replies, guys. I really appreciate it... I'm really happy with Inkscape, and with a free (libre) alternative to proprietary formats that only seem to get in the way of the creative process. I actually have scribus and seems to be one fina application, indeed! Seems to complement Inkscape in such a way that I thought was not possible wtih Open Source tools, only downside: it uses QT (yeah, I'm biased![1]), other than that it is a great app!
[1] I'm more of a GNOME/GTK kind of guy, but use KDE and QT applications just the same, the above was only a joke.
Good to hear! Yes, we've taken efforts to collaborate with the scribus folks to help make sure the two apps work well together, so it's good to hear from users that it's working out. :-) I know there are other interoperability issues still needing work, but hopefully in time we'll sort them out.
Personally, I think whether an app is implemented in Gtk, Qt, WxWidgets, or whatever is not as important as whether it cooperates well with other applications. At the end of the day, a user shouldn't have to choose her Open Source applications based off seemingly obscure factors such as widgetset; she should be able to select the best ones that meet her needs, and they should "just work" together.
This is one of the reasons we like to think of Inkscape not as "a great GNOME drawing tool", but instead as "a great open source drawing tool."
