I'm not aware of any rule against it... I mean, it's not exactly the determining factor of quality in any of the Inkscape artwork I've seen without it.

Since I recently learned how to enable the Gradient Mesh tool in
0.92pre2 (and 0.91 too) I wonder if it could be used in the About Screen
Contest? Or would it not be fair, since most people probably don't know
about it.
