Dear Elze,
Saving to an SVG is a good thing. You should do this anyway so you have a backup of your file in it's best format.
In Inkscape, to make a PNG from your SVG, you open the SVG file, the go to File > Export PNG Image... it will then show you a dialog allowing you to select which parts you want to export, select Page and browse to select a file save location.
