and if you want to see node positions, turn on midside markers on the clone path, you'll get one at every node.

OK, so what the problem here? You are already using clone. Just nodeedit the original and watch both objects to achieve seamless fit. You probably want to use the clone tiler with an appropriate symmetry and a more complete lizard, not just two legs, to see a complete tesselation.
