ScislaC, what do you think of this? Would this fit in with the DeviantArt community too?
Also, does anyone have ideas on how this could be organized?
(catching up on 3 days of the lists, sorry if this is talked about again and I haven't seen it yet)
I'm pretty sure that the dA inkscapers community would love to have regular monthly contests for logos, icons, etc for various projects. So far they loved the couple contests for Inkscape related stuff, so that's why I think it would go over well (that and a decent proportion of the 'inkscapers' members are using other FOSS as well and they like to contribute, but can't in the traditional development sense).
Organization-wise I think we'd have to go from the top down and throw it out there in the OSS world first and see how much of a desire there is to have this "service" available. There's a bazillion OSS projects at completely different stages of development so I'd personally assume that there is a pretty strong need. The real question is how to tap that side to see how large of a need there truly is. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Anyway... would you guys be interested in having an official Inkscape User monthly logo contest for selected open source projects?
Yes
