In general I like this design. If you're going for a fully responsive, mobile-device friendly update I support that, because right now the Inkscape site is a bit tiny when I drop by with my phone.
The only caveats I have: the purple-on-black color scheme immediately makes me think of an Ubuntu project. I'm not sure why since the color scheme for the Ubuntu site is orange. It might be that I'm associating it with the Unity UI. I'm not sure that's a useful association for Inkscape to make since it runs on more than just that. Also, thin purploe text on a black background (as seen in the footer) is very hard to read.
But overall I like it.

I contacted the designer at the time and just heard back. So what we have here is a psd of a single page that flows downwards. I expect it to assume a standard set of css frameworks such as bootstrap or similar.
I also know that Hinerangi has some designs waiting in the wings for the website and that we've stalled on moving more improvements in.
I'm interested in hearing wider feedback from the community since I've been under the impression that the website's design has been fairly serviceable. A replacement would be a fair amount of work and at the moment I'm only committed to making sure the technical integration of any proposed design goes ahead without any barriers.
What do you think we should do?
