I just opened an svg file by accident in Firefox 1.0 just to find that it displayed properly in my browser!!! Upon closer inspection I thought that I had setup svg to display in inkview, but no, I looked in the MozillaFirefox plugin folder and found these:
Ah yes. I remember staring in awe at the first CSS file I ever saw, and then seeing it actually WORK in a browser! Of course, everybody told me that it'd never catch on. :) I guess that can give us hope for SVG as well. While I don't see SVG on any of Microsoft's public roadmaps, it's a cool enough technology for me to warrant a "get a real browser" blurb on pages that use SVG. I can't wait!
For those that don't have an SVG enabled Firefox package in their distro, there are some builds here that you can grab. If you've ever "installed" (basically un-tarred) a nightly, using this should be a piece of cake. I usually put these in my home directory (/home/aaron/bin/firefox) so I can keep the stable version elsewhere on my system. Just FYI. :)
