[Inkscape-user] cropping to canvas border?

I find myself often wanting to crop all elements of a drawing/design to the page border. Is there a good and obvious way to do this that I'm missing?

Currently, what I do is create rectangles on the outside of the page and use the path difference tool to chop anything that sticks into it. This is pretty tedious if there's more than a few objects. (Of course, everything has to be converted to a path first, but I don't usually mind that.)
