I don't know if the version to fix the "small characters in menus" (Inkscape 0.43+devel (Nov 21 2005)) is the latest CVS, but it does crash on WinXP/SP2.

Good enough for me. Just wanted to confirm the crash before I cluttered the bug tracker with something unreproducible. Thanks.
