[Inkscape-user] Fwd: Resend: Converting older Illustrator AI format

(Sorry for the duplicate post -- first msg was sent before I was subscribed)

I have some files in Illustrator's AI format (from Illustrator version 8 I believe). According to the Inkscape wiki, only AI version 9 or later can be opened by Inkscape.

Does anyone know of a conversion tool that can open my v8 AI files and convert them into a format that Inkscape can open?
