Whatever happened with the guy who expressed an interest in managing / admin-ing the website? I can't remember his name but he said he thought he had the right kind of skills, but was lacking in experience (iirc). And I remember he said something like he was going to start studying right away, and get up to speed. But I haven't heard anything else about it. Can't even find the bug report where it was discussed.
I've been hoping for a responsive design, and maybe changing some of the text/font and formatting styles. For example, maybe it's a fad or trend these days or something, but almost all the text is left justified, which imo makes it hard to read, and visually offputting. I think there needs to be some indenting written into the styles (css), to make pages more inviting and easier to read. And maybe even some graphics, on each page, as part of the overall style (at least in header or footer).
It doesn't seem like there's an urgent need for these changes. But otoh, if not now, when? Can we see Hinerangi's designs?
I agree with Eduard about that particular style. There's just a ton of empty space, which to me gives the impression "there's nothing here" and "whatever is here is hidden".
I'm not a big fan of white text on a black background in the first place - but definitely not for the main introduction of the website. And that pale white is awfully hard to read. Really I can only read the bold or white-white words. That particular bit of text should be the most readable text in the whole site. I'm not sure if it's that font that's hard to read, or if it's just the rasterness making it slightly blurry.
But, I do like that yellow car image on the black background. That looks nice!
Will those 4 sections, which I think might be called a "shield" on the live site (Overview, Features, etc.) behave the same as they do now -- where they individually take up the whole width of the page? Or will they literally be that small? I think they need to be larger. And what the heck -- we have all kinds of empty space. Let's fill it with Inkscape images! Why not use the same shield. It really is nice, imo!
Last comment. The icon for the Users section appears to be male. Any chance for either a non-gender-specific icon, or maybe have a male and female in the icon? Or even a group of people including teens and children?
All best, brynn

Yesterday Mc- brought up a design for the inkscape website which got a few approval nods from various attending people:
https://yadi.sk/i/CfqypzmvpPbay
I contacted the designer at the time and just heard back. So what we have here is a psd of a single page that flows downwards. I expect it to assume a standard set of css frameworks such as bootstrap or similar.
I also know that Hinerangi has some designs waiting in the wings for the website and that we've stalled on moving more improvements in.
I'm interested in hearing wider feedback from the community since I've been under the impression that the website's design has been fairly serviceable. A replacement would be a fair amount of work and at the moment I'm only committed to making sure the technical integration of any proposed design goes ahead without any barriers.
What do you think we should do?
Best Regards, Martin Owens
