Hello,
This is more of a whish than anything else, but perhaps raising the issue will grab some attention from the developers of other SVG rendererers out there.
The basic problem is that graphics generated with Inkscape usually don't display just as nice in other platforms --- specifically, text kerning and colours and other properties get screwed up, as do images sometimes.
This is an important blocker to the creation of SVG wallpapers, or icons that contain some of the poorly supported features, or for using SVG and Inkscape for purposes other than illustration.
Right now I am preparing a presentation, for example. It isn't too much of a fuss to pass a series of commands through the terminal and generate PNG versions of all the SVGs, but it would just be a smoother process if I could take any image viewer (like Ristretto or Gthumb) and cycle through the images.
Inkview does a great work in representing the SVG from Inkscape accurately. So, my question is: why aren't other projects borrowing code from Inkview and using it to paint their own SVGs?
There --- I told you it was more of a wish than anything else. :o)
Denís.
