Hi Gary,
if you're on Linux, compiling is easy enough, and keeping 0.91 is possible, too, see https://inkscape.org/en/develop/getting-started/#building-inkscape-linux and ask for help on the list or in the IRC channel.
On Windows, compiling seems to have lots or prerequisites that all need to be installed separately, pulling them from different websites. So if you're a Windows user, you may need to wait for the precompiled binaries, or use the pre3 version that is already available on the website (but the unit conversion isn't in it, and mesh has received a couple of updates).
For OS X, there are currently no builds available. I don't know if anyone has it working on OS X at the moment.
Regards, Maren

so guessing this is NOT easy to install yet?
managed to get it unzipped to a tar file but not sure how I go on from there - and I'd like to keep ink91 if possible whilst I try this out.
