If it is not stable what is the address for the svn version of Inkscape? I update Scribus nightly so I might as well do the
same
for Inkscape.
In general the development version of Inkscape is reasonably
stable, but
as usual you do run the risk of occassionally running into
unexpected
trouble. The release is nearing, but if you can't wait and/or want
to
keep running nightly builds you can get the source through
Launchpad:
https://code.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk
(There is also some info on the Wiki on getting the source and
compiling
Inkscape, which is especially useful if you're not familiar with
bzr.)

I was able to compile what I think is the latest unstable version after doing the svn bit and going through upgrading another package called lxml which required yet another script---well you know the drill. The splash screen still says version 47 but that is not determinative.
The version I have allows for ICC profiles. Now this yields an interesting question. If I use a CMYK profile is the output in CMYK or still in RGB?
