I’m not sure if this is specific to my computer, but when I save a file in svg it does not matter if the plain of the inkscape version, I don’t see the file neither in qgis (where I want to use the file) nor in explorer or gimp. After I close and reopen inkscape, the file is there and intact. But still no other program seems to be able to see the file. ...
If you also do not see the files in Explorer, are you absolutely 100% sure that you're looking in the right directory? Especially under Windows the various "User", "(My) Documents", "Public Documents", "My Pictures", etc. directories can get a bit confusing at times. Also, if you indeed use Windows, you may want to explicitly choose a directory for saving the files, and avoid saving it in "Libraries" (in principle it should be fine to save them there, but since they essentially aggregate files from different directories it can be a bit confusing).
