
Yes, that is very similar to the lattice idea, although his "wrapper" has control handles and a lattice doesn't (at least as implemented in Blender, anyway)

It would kind of be like the node sculpting feature, but with the selector interface, instead of having you select all the nodes. It seems like a neat thing to have to me. It would make perspective transforms much more intuitive, etc, etc.
Node sculpting kind of does that, yes, but it isn't quite the same.
Here is a link to the Blender wiki to give some idea of what I am talking about. Admittedly, this is 3D, but it has the gist of the idea.
