Update:
Renaming/deleting preferences file worked!
Thanks to everyone :-D
On a side note, Maren, that member mentioned that he found the AppData directory was a hidden file, by default, in Windows 10. After some thought, I think it may be hidden in all Windows versions by default. (I've had my hidden folders displayed for ages, so I never noticed this myself.)
But if it's true that AppData is hidden by default, in all supported Windows versions, it might be a good idea to mention that, whenever guiding someone there, e.g. to find preferences.xml, to install templates, extensions, etc..
Would there be a way, perhaps using find/replace, on webpages, to add a brief note about it being hidden or suggesting to unhide if necessary? I'm thinking mostly about the FAQ, but there are probably other places where the website sends users "down that path".
And if so, would there be a way to do it for all pages at once, rather than fixing 1 page at a time?
If so, I doubt if I would be able to do it (able technically or able permission-wise). If not, maybe I'll add to my to-do list, to visit all the community related pages, where users are directed to or through AppData, and add a very brief comment.
What do you think?
Or maybe it's not mentioned that much, but seems so to me, because I'm always typing out that path for answering forum messages, etc??
Thanks, brynn

Thanks Maren and Everyone, There's a full screen screenshot near the end of the topic. There's just no clue there, that I could see.
I'll advise about the prefs file. And I'll let you know how it goes.
Although....I'm not aware of any preference for displaying a dialog or not... Or else I would have thought to try it. But will advise to try it.
No, we don't think it's Win10, because he has another Win10 machine which does not have this problem.
Thanks again, brynn

Hi Brynn,
you could ask the user to upload a screenshot of the full window, just to verify.
Kind regards, Maren
FWIW it's not a general Windows 10 issue. I can see the trace dialog on my Inkscape 0.91 installation.

you could try running with a clean preferences file to see if that makes a difference. On 32 bit Windows 7, go to the address C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\inkscape\preferences.xml and rename the preferences file to something else, so it will not be recognized. Then rerun the trial.
