Hi Bulia,
I didn't know about tolerance setting as Alex told me in his post. Tolerance setting is a good thing. I think this should be changed to "Smoothness" in English versions as well because "Smoothness" better reflects the desired effect. I'll now try different tolerance settings to adjust it to work smooth enough for me. I think there should be similar "tolerance" settings in other vector tools (Corel, FreeHand, etc) and I'll have to dig them out.
BTW, "Smoothness" is a much more user-friendly and readable word then "Tolerance" (which makes you think that the software is talking about your tolerance with respect to the software or .... ;)
Thanks and regards
Asif

Mental, I don't know which one to believe -- you or my memory, because I remember that bulia fixed it about half a year ago by changing something in the code and adding a "Smoothness" setting in "Preferences - Instruments - Pencil" ;-)
I didn't add it, I just exposed what already existed in the code, and it's not working very well. I did not touch the algorithm then, but Peter Moulder later did, and he made it much better.
Here's a comparison with screenshots:

Personally I'm in the Inkscape camp. Sodipodi's freehand is unusable for me. YMMV.
