This week I've been showing off all sorts of things to people... The new inkscape.deviantart.com. I showed daj's "Rockin' in the Free
World"
to a professional musician. ScislaC's 'Gaze' astounds _everyone_ who sees it; this is without a doubt the most advanced piece of art ever done with Inkscape/Sodipodi/Gill (we have *got* to encourage Scislac
to
teach us all the tricks for how he was able to *do* that!) I also of course have to brag about the KDE 3.4 SVG Wallpaper contest, and that
of
the top 4, half are known to have been done with Inkscape (including
the
winner).
Thanks for promoting 'Gaze'. And she keeps getting weekly updates too (just did one today even)! I normally work on a main art project of the month... she was my December project. I just can't stop! ;)
For those who haven't see it, (~300k jpg) you can go to: http://www.deviantart.com/view/13601477/
As for all of the tricks used, I plan on documenting a lot of the techniques I developed. Some tricks are a bit "hackish", but they get the job done. It will be a very in-depth tutorial. Just to note, I'm on revision 21 of Gaze, and I have not only my exported PNGs from every stage of the process, but also kept each revision of the SVG as well (so I still have good material to work with to include screenshots for everything). What can I say, you can never have too many backups (especially in case you want to go back and branch a project from an earlier stage).
I wouldn't count on much on this front for the rest of the month though, as there's a possibility I will be moving next week. (still don't know... ugh!)
