Thanks for the help and responses!

I managed to install it properly with Fink Commander rather than going the other route...it's working fine, and I'm already using it for graphic design work..

Thanks to all the responses, I can't wait to use Inkscape w/ Gimp and produce quality work w/ this open-source software..
