what do you thing should change on the installer ?

While upgrading the installer removes all dll's in the Inkscape and the lib and etc directory. So there should be no "old" files.

Pls could you clarify for me (I was the day in the mountains and totally off-web)

 From this should I assume that the Inkscape installer doesn't look to
see if a GTK+ installation is already present? I note that an old
(2.4.0) version is installed under the Inkscape directory - is this the
problematic version?
