I believe you would have to convert the image back into vectors again and that will have the effect of degradation (at least that's my experience). If you happen to have the original you did in Inkscape, that'd be wiser; or if you can't, use the GIMP or any other Raster based graphics manipualtion program to do that directly to the .png.
