Well, I have just tried to install gtk+2-devel, but yast is now telling me I need to install gtk+2 = 2.1.0 and gtk-doc-common. As the error I got trying to install gtk+2 was that I need to install gtk+2 devel I am completely confused.
Thanks for taking the time so far, can you offer one final burst of illumination? Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: "Trent Buck" <fubarbaz@...104...> To: inkscape-user@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Inkscape-user] Installing inkscape Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 03:16:54 +1100

First, apologies for my poor posting etiquette in previous post.
You're willing to learn, which is the important thing :-)
However I am still having trouble installing Inkscape to suse
9.1
Unable to install GTK+2 because it needs GTK+2 devel and I can't even find GTK+2 devel.
The gtk2-devel packages should be on one of the install CDs.
Otherwise,
try rpmfind.net
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=gtk2-devel&system=sus...
Are there easier versions of sue or other distributions of linux
to
install inkscape on.
I think the problems you're experiencing are due primarily to inexperience rather than a `bad' distribution.
