I recieved this response to my question earlier this month and in checking I find YAST calls the package GTK2. Is it possible I need some of the additioanla packages installed like the GTK2-devel and GTK2-Spell?
You can find that out yourself if you give the command
ldd /usr/bin/inkscape
or the place where SuSE installs if not in /usr/bin. If you get any 'not found' then you miss something. Can you mail me the output, perhaps one can see from it if you have everything.

Thanks for the response. I found the problem and I guess I should wait until I upgrade to 9.3. I have GTK2-2.2.4-125.4 and Inkscape requires 2.4.0 or greater. There is a 2.4 version availble for SuSE 9.2 but it may mess up other applications if I install it. I'm planning on going to 9.3 as soon as I get everything ready.
Thanks again for your help.
