Me too. AFAIK Inkscape does not handle separations at all. I would do it manually by cutting the design into layers of paths that share a colour. You can imagine that this would be quite complex - esp. if you have clips that have many colours within. Not sure how I would handle it really. Might take it all out to Gimp, or see what Scribus to PDF can do.
Be doing a sign project soon that may go to screen-printing, so I need to get this sorted sometime.
