I think you can change the font with the Tex Text plugin:
You can specify the font package in the preamble file.
Actually I wasn't able to use any of the original solution (Effect >
Render > LaTeX formula) and this TexText solution. Both of them crashes down
with the same error message. All the history of my attempts to make these
work is at

I use Windows XP. And you? Could anyone help me how to use these
plugins?
