I just read the disheartening news
it wasn't news it was someone trying to help on the mailing list and it was a qualified statement, he wasn't sure. do not rush to any conclusions.
that Inkscape doesn't support multi-page documents. This would mean that one can not print a custom sized document that is larger then one sheet of standard size paper from Inkscape. Is this true?
With the right printer and settings I don't believe that is true. Even if it is it would be a bug and workarounds do exist.
What Inkscape definately does not support is multipage documents as specified in more recent versions of the SVG standard. Inkscape does not provide for mulitpage drawings in the way OpenOffice Draw (or Microsoft Visio, or Adobe Illustrator with the help of a 3rd party plugin) does with a tab at the bottom of the page for each sheet.
Getting your printing problems sorted can be a real pain, it is so difficult to test the many printers out there. Printing to PDF and then printing really is a good idea.
