i'm using ubuntu 5.10, but i'll be moving up to dapper when they settle on the final release.
when you say all the required dependecies needed for building inkscape are available in the repositories, is that the stable release or the cvs build?
I built the CVS version so I could play with node sculpting.
I'm running the latest Dapper. All dependencies are there. When I went to install, the libglitz package was broken (but present), so I downloaded the deb from a Debian repo and manually installed it. Since it's a pretty important package, I can only assume it will be fixed before Dapper is stable.
Apt-get insall automake installed version 1.4, but versions 1.4-1.9 are present in the repos, so it was just a matter of telling it to get the right one, and pointing the automake symlink to the right place.
I do have universe and multiverse repositories enabled, but I think everything came from main.
have you ever tried using the autopackage builds? i didn't have much luck with them.
This was my first time ever building Inkscape. I like the idea of autopackages (1 package, all distros. Yay!)...but have never used it yet.
