Hi, Firstly, Thank you for this open source project. I've just started using this software but came across problem when I have a lot of objects in one window. It becomes very slow and then not usable if I compare the acceleration with eg. Corel Draw. In Corel Draw on WinXP I have the same amount of objects and it's fine but inkscape's slows down rapidly. I have processor Sempron 2800+ and NVidia FX5200 graphic card running on Knoppix. Is there any way how to make it inkscape working faster? Some kind of acceleration, something like directx for linux? Maybe recompiling the kernel properly? I didn't have time for this yet though.
Not really. It helps to make sure you have plenty of memory. Inkscape's not received as much performance optimization as it needs, especially for larger documents. I think the plan is to get Inkscape moved over to use the cairo renderer, and then focus performance optimization work there. If you can code and would be interested in working on this,I could give you some pointers.
