In the command line, this is what appears:
SCIM: im_module_init free(): invalid pointer 0x9453670! free(): invalid pointer 0x9453650! Emergency save activated! Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
Do I have to uninstall SCIM? How do I get around this?
Sounds like some of your your C++ libraries (probably not SCIM) were compiled with a different major version of gcc than Inkscape. What distribution are you using?

I'm using Mandrake 10.1 and I installed the development defaults files.
