that a solution is well within the collective ability of the community :-D

I know Patreon seems to work quite well for Youtubers (American ones, at least). Perhaps something crowd-sourcey can keep a gang of four or five SVG minds pulsing in a corner of the world, keeping the libre graphics hopes alive. :)
