In addition, there is no instruction on the use of the basic line-drawing tools. For example, how do you stop drawing?

Shortly : double-click (kind of classic) will allow you stop drawing.

You can easily check this in the advanced tutorial (help > tutorials) or in the keys reminder (help > keys), and find lots of others methods/shortcuts.
