In your previous mail, you wrote that resetting the preferences did the trick. Now I'm not sure if the one I'm answering here is maybe a 'zombie' email ;-)
Still, just in case the help is still needed:
Do you see the objects that you think you created when you switch to View -> Display mode -> Outline?
If the objects are visible in outline mode, then there must be an issue with transparency, clipping, masking or similar. Check for those in the drawing, or let someone else check (i.e. send us a link to the file).
One more thing to check is: Is the layer you are currently working on locked? This will prevent you from adding objects to it. Check this in the layers dialog: Layer -> Layers...
Kind Regards, Maren

Thanks for your answer.
I’ve tried all of that, but it seems that no object is even created when I draw. Selection tool doesn’t work either, it seems that no object is created. Bezier curves tool won’t work either. I don’t know what I miss, really.
Thanks.

Hi Rodolphe,
most probably, what you're drawing is just transparent.
For detailed instructions about how to find out what exactly is causing this (might be layers, object's opacity, alpha, ...), please see this good tutorial written by Brynn:

Hello,
I’m running inkscape 0.91 with XQuartz 2.7.9 on mac OS X 10.11.4
I’m having a problem. When I create a new document, I select a shape like ellipse, I draw but nothing appears on the screen, the shape won’t draw. The outline is by default, black on white.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on ?
Thanks !
Rodolphe.
