Yes, this is probably what's happening. (I remember inkscape complaining about being unable to allocate more memory before crashing.)
I checked again and noticed there's still plenty of free swap space (> 500 MB).
I wonder why it's allocating more memory even though I don't load any new files, though.
Something's definitely wrong here. By switching between two files in inkview I can cause the process to grow to an arbitrary size in memory. It will crash if I switch "fast" from one to the other repeatedly.
