[Inkscape-user] inkscape with lyx/latex

I use Lyx to creat documents and use Xfig for the figures in the documents. Lyx works well with Xfig. In particular with Xfig I can insert mathematical expressions using latex notation. The way this works in Xfig/Lyx is clumsy and ugly but the final product looks good. You even get to have the fonts used match the fonts used in Latex.

I am wondering how well inkscape works with Lyx or Latex. In particular I would like to know if mathematical expressions can be added to a figure using latex notation and have latex ensure the proper display of the equation.

While I am here, is there any documentation describing the pros and cons of inkscape compared to Xfig?
