Switch to Node tool (F2) for editing a path.

Thanks and yeah I know about the node tool, but if I'm not missing something obvious it doesn't let me draw in changes to the line. It just lets me click and add points and drag in the points, which is at least for me a very very slow work-flow. Do you understand what I'm trying to do? (maybe I'm just missing something obvious in that tool?)
