Hi there...
I used to work with Corel Draw and I would like to get started with Inkscape, because it looks very promising and is good open source software.
One problem I have is that I can't find something like an "object manager". This is a nice sidebar in Corel that show you all your objects in the current document (all rectangles, circles, texts you've drawn and written). If you click on one of them it selects it on the drawing. I hope you understand, what I mean.
Why do I need something like this? I've you've got a quite complex drawing (10 layers on top of each other), how can I select the 5. layer of them? Maybe I just don't understand something here ;-)
I hope you can help me :)

Until we get something more complete, the XML editor can be used precisely this way (though I don't think it allows multiple selection).

Apart from the XML editor you can also select layers in the dropdown list in the statusbar (again, this only works for layers).
