wacom tablet settings
i'm using a graphire 3 wacom tablet on opensuse 10.2. The mouse and pen work, but the program doesn't see the tablet so i can set pressure and such. does the wacom driver for opensuse and inkscape not allow for such settings to be made? does the pressure setting operate automatically, thin lines - light pressure, thick lines - heavy pressure? or am i just stuck with it being operational at all?

Hi, I know this link is Ubuntu-specific, but I'm sure it will give you some clues: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom

Assuming you have your tablet configured correctly in xorg.conf, in inkscape click file>input devices, choose the device that matches the configured 'stylus' device from the list, and select screen rather than disabled from the mode drop-down. 'window' isn't recommended, depending on your configuration it can result in drawn lines not appearing under the cursor but some distance to the side.

I'm very new to Linux. How do I configure the tablet in xorg.config?

I'm not sure if openSuse has it's own wacom documentation. I run ubuntu and found quite a bit of good stuff of ubuntuforums.org. For something non-distro specific, you might want to check out the Linux Wacom Project HowTo. The documentation is at:

I had some trouble getting my Graphire3 working quite a while back, but was able to solve it. I posted about it here:

Dwain, go read the link I posted. It has a really good chance of helping you and contains links outwards to other resources.
