The good thing about that is that drawing them in the wrong direction just rotates the transformed image. Being the knucklehead I am, I remember building a 3d cube-type logo for a logo contest and I must have tried that perspective effect six ways from sunday before I managed to get it right. So almost all I know about the perspective effect (or most other stuff inkscape-related) is through sometimes painful trial and error. ;)
And of course when my head is sufficiently bloodied from banging it against the wall, I go to Tavmjong Bah's godsend of a site ( http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/index.php). :)
