I vote for a common theme amongst Gimp, Inkscape, and Scribus. Maybe Tango icons would be more universal. You could use them for the default theme and they would look at place amongst Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, etc.

sorry, misunderstood. But I don't think that is a bad idea to have distribution specific themes as long as that is not the default.

BTW: I use Ubuntu 6.06 as my current main desktop OS. I like it a lot - especially the default theme under Gnome. Too many distributions use blue - I like brown better. Good work.

Yup, I think what you'd do is send in a Gimp format palette (.gpl) file, that can be included in Inkscape. You can test it out first by copying it into your /usr/share/inkscape/palettes directory. When it looks good, go to http://sf.net/projects/inkscape/ and upload it to the patch tracker, and a developer will pick it up and include it for 0.45.
