Don't know if this has been discussed before. Gimp has options for dithering and supersampling in gradient blends which prevents banding on some displays and printers. Anything like this in inkscape?

I know we merged some code to dither gradients a while back. Are you having problems with banding?

Yes I am. I'm making some images for a cellphone, and the gradients show some very apparent banding. But after some preliminary tests, it seems even the dithering/supersampling options of gimp is not solving the problem. I don't know if the dithering algorithm can be tweaked to work better on lcd displays.
What does help a little is the blur filter at levels of about 4-6 %. But this is not really a solution, because it only blurs the edges.
