trying again to attach as a png. Obviously sharing an inkscape file doesn't work.

Hi Joanne,
it looks as if tracing this image is a good option. Trace the image with a black/white threshold, then use the node tool to remove the nodes forming the "201".
Clicking step-by-step: - - Open Inkscape - - Import File -> select the png - - Path -> Trace Bitmap, leave the standard options - - Ok - - Check if the object looks like the original. If it doesn't, delete the new path object (select and hit Del or Ctrl+X), and Trace Bitmap again, tweak brightness cutoff or in the second tab, play with the 3 settings there. - - remove your bitmap image (see status line at the bottom to know which object is selected) - - Use the node tool (F1), click on the Path object - - Drag a selection box around the nodes you do no longer need (i.e. the "201") - - move some nodes if it doesn't look right - - Finished. Save :)
Regards, Maren

Hi Joanne, small correction:
Clicking step-by-step:
- Open Inkscape
- Import File -> select the png
- Path -> Trace Bitmap, leave the standard options
- Ok
- Check if the object looks like the original. If it doesn't, delete
the new path object (select and hit Del or Ctrl+X), and Trace Bitmap again, tweak brightness cutoff or in the second tab, play with the 3 settings there.
- remove your bitmap image (see status line at the bottom to know
which object is selected)
- Use the node tool (F1), click on the Path object
- Drag a selection box around the nodes you do no longer need (i.e.
the "201")
- Forgot this: Delete these nodes, hit Del or Ctrl+X
- move some nodes if it doesn't look right
- Finished. Save :)
