Crash on font dialogue open
On two of my gentoo boxen Inkscape crashes whenever I open the font dialogue box. On a third machine (exactly the same (large) set of fonts) it seems to work ok.
I think it's probably some library dependancy problem, but multiple revdep-rebuild's haven't helped. I've re-emerged inkscape a few times to no avail.
Any suggestions as to how I can get this baby going again?
All the other dialogues - colour, etc. work ok.
I can created a diagram with fonts on my other machine, and open it on these ones, but as soon as I open that font window, down she goes.
Any help much appreciated.

Have you been able to get a core file from the crashes?
Or can you make a debug build and run it in gdb?

I never checked for a core to be honest.
I'll try to have a play with it tonight.

Ok, had a quick rebuild last night.
I don't get a core file on these crashes.
Building from the latest .bz2 linked from inkscape.org gives me the same problem (crash on open font dialogue).
I built the source from scratch with -g (debug) and removed all the -O2 (optimisations).
When I start it I get something like: (and no bullshit)
"Inkscape: Nothing to do"
and it exits.
any ideas?

What we need is not a core but the backtrace:

I don't get one.
This is broken on multiple machines (all gentoo boxen).
e.g.:
~ [redgum] inkscape (inkscape opens, and I click the font dialogue 'A' button, inkscape window disappears)
Emergency save activated! Emergency save complete. Inkscape will close now. If you can reproduce this crash, please file a but at www.inkscape.org with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it. *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (normal): 0x09266950 *** Segmentation fault ~ [redgum]

Search for "glibc" in our closed bugs - we had a lot of this. Most likely it's a compiler version mismatch.
