anyone knows how to include a greek letter within a roman text line using inkscape?

You could also cut and paste from another application that supports Unicode.
Choose a Unicode font with Greek characters. Basic Greek block begins at 0x0380 (Alpha: 0x0391, alpha: 0x03b1).
