rulers not correct
On my linux platform, with inkscape 0.45 and with cm used as base, the zero position on the horizontal ruler is not exactly at the left edge of the page. The vertical ruler seems to be layed out correctly. The black triangles that are the visible pointers at the current position on the rulers both miss the correct position visibly.

Can you submit a bug report on this one with a screenshot? I tried recreating the issue but am unsure I'm seeing what you're seeing.

I have no bug account and don't really want to (am not frequently here yet). So I send the pic to you (you're involved, aren't you :). I also had no screengrabber tool at hand and just fetched one from internet. There's no gimp here, so I couldn't crop the pic (142,5k) too.
As far as I can see, inkscape uses gtk+ for the rulers. This may cause the variance in the relative positioning of the guides and the rulers. The zoom factor definetly matters. However, there is also a misinterpretation of the cursor position (or target), I think. Just look at the red, horizontal guide and at the black triangle on the horizontal ruler. The triangle is quite shifted away to the right from the guide. You can also see that the red guide is left from the zero position but right from the left border.
Btw. When I click fast to zoom into the pic, inkscape sometimes suddenly makes a big jump to the highest zoom factor. It seems to happen after the fourth click but it doesn't happen twice on the same pic.

You can submit a bug or RFE anonymously. You don't need an account. Please understand that with the high amount of mail in the list, and developers being often busy, a problem reported only on the list has a chance of being lost and forgotten. Please help us by filing bug reports and RFEs in our tracker.

I would STRONGLY advise bug reports to get accounts, otherwise we have very little way of knowing if users are noticing updated comments on a report. It is very discouraging to spend time on reports without knowing if anyone is ever good to read it or provide follow up information if needed. The more interest a reporter shows the more interest others are likely to show in the request.
