Is it possible to make the WM_CLASS property of Inkscape's dialog equal to, say, "Inkscape", "inkscape-dialog" instead of having all windows as "Inkscape", "inkscape"?

Sure. You can ensure that this is done prompty if you help developers by researching what is the proper GTK/GDK function call for setting that property. I will then add it to the code. Also it would be nice if you then contribute an item to tips&tricks tutorial describing how to use this property from a WM and what is possible to do with it.
