Inkscape 0.46 Stable for Windows Released
Great news.
Today the stable release of Inkscape 0.46 Win32 is up on sourceforge. Thanks to many who tested and several who fixed bugs. This release has been a real team effort.
The installer file is here; http://downloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.46.win32.exe
And the zip file (non-installer) versions and windows specific source files will follow very soon.
Draw Freely,
Rygle

I installed this version a couple of days ago and some node editing features that existed in recent development builds are no longer there. I'm referring to the ability to edit clipping paths & masks on canvas, the red outline when selecting shapes and the one that appears momentarily as you hover over other shapes. The icons are missing from the toolbar - they are there in the final 0.46 for Linux, though. I'm comparing the March 19th development build with the final 0.46 April 1st build. What am I missing here?

Are you sure they are in 0.46 for Linux ? I'd be happy to see my things already in 0.46, but I'm afraid they are still buggy. Nice to hear you miss them! :)
The explanation is that within a release cycle, at a certain point we split a 0.46 version from the normal development code. New features get added to development code, but not to 0.46 except bugfixes. This ensures a more stable release.
What you are seeing in the development builds are as up to date features as possible, but also less stable behavior because of that. If you can live with little less stability (i.e. just save every 10 minutes, and know that some things might change), I encourage using development builds, because bugs get found sooner, so we don't need to do as big a bugfix period during a release cycle.
Regards, Johan

I think I have 0.46 final installed on my Ubuntu machine at home but I may be mistaken: I installed it by adding the software sources from the inkscape.org homepage, and I assumed this is the 0.46 package source and not a development build. I'll check when I get home. Anyway I can still use the dev build. It's very helpful when you are editing blurred and transparent shapes.
Another way to do this is to switch the view mode. Try pressing Ctrl-KP5.
